Resources for planning events

WPSU, Penn State’s public broadcast affiliate, has a variety of options to help your organization host a successful virtual event. These options do have associated costs, but with early planning these costs can be included in a University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC) request.

You are able to request funding for streaming equipment from UPAC
Option 1: WPSU-Hosted Virtual Meeting/Event Livestream
Price Range: $3,000-$6,000
*Great for guest speaker from remote locations, webinars, moderated panels, and lectures with Q&A via an online chat*
  1. Includes a WPSU tech on location or in the WPSU studio (Outreach Building at Innovation Park)
  2. WPSU builds a custom landing page and hosts your event on watch.psu.edu and/or provide embed code
  3. Closed-captioning included
  4. ASL interpreters available upon request
  5. Option for some pre-recorded content to be streamed as well (introductions, etc.)
  6. Post-event analytics
  7. WPSU will train student moderators and provide in-event support
  8. Web stream can be made available to the public, restricted to Penn State students/faculty/staff, or a select list of PSU user id’s

Option 2: Advanced Live Location Event Streamed Broadcast
Price Range: $6,000-$16,000+
*Great for events that include a hybrid setup of an in-person component and virtual participants and/or attendees, including concerts, dance or theater performances, and live-moderated panels with in-person Q&A
  1. Includes WPSU techs, producers, and live camera operators (cost will ultimately depend mostly on the amount of labor needed on location)
  2. WPSU builds a custom landing page and hosts your event on watch.psu.edu and/or provide embed code
  3. Closed-captioning included
  4. ASL interpreters available upon request
  5. Option for some pre-recorded content to be streamed as well (introductions, etc.)
  6. Post-event analytics
  7. WPSU will train student moderators and provide in-event support
  8. Webstream can be made available to the public, restricted to Penn State students/faculty/staff, or a select list of PSU user id’s

Lead time for all events is at least 2 weeks prior to event to ensure time for pre-production planning and event promotion.
